On Wednesday last our Transition Year students held the Anne Grogan Memorial Blitz as part of their Future Leaders programme. Six schools from around Connacht and two BCS teams were invited to take part. The teams were divided into two groups, each playing three games each. In the first four games BCS Red, Swinford, St Louis and Headford all came out on top. BCS Red continued to maintain their winning streak and were into the cup semi-final against Mount St. Michael. The other semi-final was Balla and St Louis. BCS Red and Mount St Michael put up a tough match in an evenly matched contest. The teams were neck and neck, and when the final whistle blew the sides were level. The game went to free kicks, BCS came out on top scoring all their free kicks. BCS progressed into the cup final against St Louis, Kiltimagh. In the shield final, Balla played Claremorris in a local derby. Both games were extremely tight, and all the girls displayed excellent talent. BCS were victorious in the cup final and Claremorris in the shield. Congratulations to BCS and Mount St Michael. Thank you to all the schools that travelled to the blitz, the Grogan & Keane Family, the Transition Year students and all the Teachers involved. It was a fantastic event, well done to everyone!
