Congratulations to Transition Year Students & Ms. O’Brien on hosting BCS’s first Scifest@School fair yesterday.

The students presented their 28 projects to Judges Colette Keane from Homecare Medical , Kenneth Hora and Kevin Curley from Dawn Meats Group, and Claire Atkinson from SciFest.

The event enabled the students to engage with businesses within our community and enhanced their experience of STEM education.

Well done to all the students that showcased their projects as part of the event.

Winners on day included:

1st prize: Niamh Donnellan, Keeley Ronane, Aoife Collins “Which painkiller works the fastest?”

2nd prize: Lily Harrington, Fionn Kilbride “Pest or Pal”

Eirgrid Award: Luke Duffy, Darragh Morris Biodegradable AI glove

Scifest Communication Award: Cian OShaughnessy Jake Powers “Are they worth it?”

Scifest Science Communication Award: Alisha Forde, Leandra Pesut “school versus germs…. who’s winning? “

Teachers’ choice: Emma Casey and Sarah Corcoran “Am I worth it?” #scifest2024
