Yesterday was an important day at Ballyhaunis Community School. The Schools of Sanctuary Committee had their monitoring day, marking the culmination of a year-and-a-half-long journey. Their goal was to earn the prestigious title of “Champion School of Sanctuary,” and yesterday was their inspection day. And wow, did they impress!
The seven visiting judges met with management, staff, and students, receiving a warm welcome and enjoying a tour of our beautiful, modern school. The students then shared personal accounts of their experiences attending such a diverse school. They also showcased their talents through dance, sign language, poetry, and song. Additionally, they presented a PowerPoint to the judges highlighting the work being done at BCS to promote respect, equality, inclusion, integration, and kindness.
One judge commented, “The experience at BCS was so impressive, inspiring, and heart-warming—truly a great example of a Champion School of Sanctuary.”
Congratulations and well done to all the students involved in yesterday’s presentation and to Ms. Murphy and the Schools of Sanctuary Committee!
