We are so excited and thrilled to say that the official launch of “Ink and Imagination “took place in our school Wed 24th of April. This publication is a collection of poems and stories written by some of our students.
At the launch the atmosphere in the room was so special. You could hear a pin drop as the students read poems on topics as diverse as appreciation of a much-loved grandmother or the destruction of the Irish language in classrooms of the past.
Liam Horan who played a key role in our writing workshops spoke to the assembled audience about how impressive the writing is.
The book itself was launched by Professor Eoin Devereux who travelled from University of Limerick. He spoke of how in the ten years of running the creative writing programme at UL, this is the first time a book has been published. We are so proud of our students for this achievement!
The group are travelling to UL to meet the English Department and perform their pieces in front of renowned writers such as Donal Ryan.
The event came to a close with a performance by Ethan Henry accompanied by Alex Fitzmaurice. Ethan sang a song he composed himself on a topic close to his heart. It had a profound effect on us all. The MC on the evening was Adam Walsh a Leaving CertIficate student who has charisma on tap.
Any student who would like to be part of this dynamic group please let us know. Everyone is welcome.
A special thanks to Ms Hegarty, Ms Coyne and Ms Mulroy.
The book is now available to purchase at the School or in shops locally for just €10.
