Congratulations to our Junior Boys Gaelic side who defeated Gortnor Abbey Crossmolina to win the Connacht Junior Title recently. The team trained extremely hard leading up to this day and went into the match with confidence. Crowds of BCS and Gortner supporters lined the perimeter of the pitch in the COE. It was an intense first 15 minutes, but scores from Conor Grogan and captain Derry Og enabled BCS to lead the score line. The lads had a great last 10 minutes of the first half with goals from Fionn Conlon, Jake Powers and Oisin Kelly. The halftime score was Ballyhaunis 3-10 to Gortnor Abbeys 0-4. Wise words from managers Mr. Freeley and David Delaney sent the lads into the second half with their heads held high. The second half started well with Fionn Conlon and Mark Feeney getting early goals. Our backs did an excellent job stopping Gortnor Abbey from getting any more than 2 points in the second half. The match ended with a cracker of a goal from Cian O’Shaughnessy. The fulltime score was BCS 6:14, Gortnor Abbey 0:7. It was a deserving win and great end to the season but would not have been possible without the endless hours that managers Mr. Freeley and David Delaney put in. Special mention to the TY helpers Aoibhín Greally, Sadhbh Lyons and Kate McDermott.
