In May, WorldWise Global Schools recognised Ballyhaunis Community School as an Established School in the delivery of Global Citizenship Education and awarded the school a Silver Global Passport. It was the only school in Mayo to be awarded this prestigious diplomatic award in 2020.
The Transition Year group of 2019-2020 were instrumental in achieving this award. Their energy and enthusiasm, from delivering Global Citizenship classes to 1st Year students,  to working with Amnesty International was commendable. Just before lockdown the Transition Years organised a memorable Intercultural day which celebrated our 32 different cultures in the school.
Our school was awarded the Citizens Award (Bronze Award) two years ago as an Emerging School in Global Citizenship Education and is now recognized as an Established School.
