Thumbs up all round from the students of Ballyhaunis Community School for this years VAKS programme taking place across the summer at The HUB Knock. VAKS (Volunteer at Knock Shrine) is a programme whereby students are invited to get involved during the summer at Knock to help out by providing information, directions and assistance to pilgrims during the summer. Students receive training in Communication Skills, team building, first aid, sign language etc. They will volunteer for at least one weekend where they will meet and work with young people from all over the diocese – they get to stay in the Youth Hostel with all there meals provided. They only cost they have is their time. Aine Duffy and Sive Duffy were volunteers last year – this year they will be mentors to the new VAKS group – it has given these girls great confidence and they say they have great fun over the course of the weekend
